Want to Hide Your TV? A Step by Step Guide to Covering Your TV with Art

Want to hide your TV

Last week, I shared how we fixed our Feng Shui Money Corner. The biggest challenge was the hidden TV. It was important to hide the TV because the black box felt suffocating and I’m easily tempted to watch soul sucking programs. I needed to conceal the TV to be more conscious about what and when I watch.

After hours of Googling hidden TV Ideas, I didn’t find anything that would work for me. I had to come up with my own DIY hide TV behind picture solution. If you want to use my DIY hidden TV option, here’s how:

Step 1: Buy art thats a little bigger than the TV screen. We bought ours from Kohl’s for about $40.

Step 2: Take the interior supports off so the frame is about 2 lbs lighter. I don’t know if this step is necessary but I wanted to have the least amount of weight on the TV as possible.

Step 3: Get ¼” diameter vinyl tubing instead of picture wire so you don’t damage the TV. I bought ours at Ace Hardware for about $2.

Step 4: Figure out how the tubing will rest on your TV. If your TV doesn’t have a natural place for the tubing to rest, attach two command hooks at the top back corners.

Step 5Hold the picture where you’d like it over the TV and mark where the top TV corners hit the frame.

Step 6: Nail or screw the tubing level with the horizontal marking and just outside the vertical marking using knots as spacers for the thickness of your TV frame.

Step 7Hide the cords. I used Velcro ties and a scrap of vinyl.

Step 8: Hide your TV behind your art.

I’ve found that hiding our TV has made a huge difference in nourishing my soul.

Next week, I’ll share my TV problems and how things are different now that we have art on the TV. In the meantime, if you need help finding your Soul’s Home®, I’d love to talk with you. Just click Contact Me to schedule a free 30minute call.
