The KonMari Method: Is it the Perfect Approach to Tackling the Soul’s Home® Ingredient “Neatness”?

Should you tidy up?

I was skeptical about the new Netflix series, “Tidying up with Marie Kondo” because I thought it would be rigid and ego-basedBuI was struck by how soulful the KonMari Method is.

Kondo’s method to change your life through tidying is the perfect approach to tackling the Soul’s Home® Ingredient – NeatnessOf all the Soul’s Home® Ingredients, neatness is often the one you can control the most and will give you the biggest bang for your buck

When you’re not living in your Soul’s Home®, tidying will allow you to live more in alignment with your soul so you can move on more quickly. But, the series shows the other side of the coin – people whose homes could be their Soul’s Home® if it weren’t for the mess.

The cornerstone of the KonMari method is keeping items that spark joy. I love that Kondo offers alternatives when “sparking joy” or her precise folding method don’t feel right to the client. And Kondo’s practice of thanking discards respects not only your things but also your ability to let go.

The show feels more honest and refreshing than other quick fix home makeover shows offers because you follow the process over a month or two and witness the difficult emotions that surface while purging. And kudos to Netflix for choosing a variety of ethnic backgrounds, life stages and sexual preferences. This inclusiveness promotes community and shows how the KonMari method can serve anyone.

What I love most about Kondo’s show is Marie herself. She sparks joy so, let’s keep her. If it’s time for you to tidy up, watching the episode that’s closest to your situation will be a good inspiration.

If you feel so moved, write about this below because sharing is good for your soul. Next time, we’ll talk about: Manifesting Neighbors.

Until next week, I wish you well on your journey.

I know a family who just moved into a much smaller home. They actually found it freeing to get rid of so much excess clutter and simplify their lives.
