Indulge Your Fantasy: How to Know When Your Fantasy Will Feed Your Soul

Do you have a house fantasy?

Long before the tiny house movement, I had a tiny house fantasy. For many years, I’d literally wake up having dreamt I was living in a tiny house off the grid. There’s something so enticing about having only what you need and needing very little. And for me, an introvert, the idea of living in the middle of nowhere, bathed in solitude was very appealing. But as I’ve matured, I’ve realized that some fantasies are meant to be just that – Fantasies.

I rolled over laughing when I saw the PODS commercial that gets to the heart of this! Here’s this couple indulging their tiny house fantasy only to find out that it’s not all it’s cracked up to be. Lucky for them, they’d put all their “extra stuff” in a POD because they needed it when they finally conceded to expanding.

Don’t get me wrong. The tiny house is the Soul’s Home® for many people. But if you have a tiny house fantasy or any other house fantasy, I encourage you to first take the time to hear what your soul is calling you to do, then consider if that fantasy will really feed your soul or not.

It pains me when clients come to me after they’ve indulged their fantasy and realized it doesn’t serve their soul because they end up having to spend money, time and energy to correct the imbalance.

To avoid wasting your valuable time, money and energy, first connect with your purpose and look at your fantasy through that lens. If you still feel the need to indulge your fantasy, find ways to test it out before you commit to buying a home. Implement similar changes in your current home or rent for example to get a taste of your fantasy so you can make sure it really does feed your soul.

If you feel moved, write about this below because sharing is good for your soul. Next time, we’ll explore the three choices you always have in difficult situations

Until next week, I wish you well on your journey.
